My home town of Thurso has a series of caves at the West end of the towns beach. Tidal, and subject to extreme weather, they nevertheless have a series of carvings and workings that have survived centuries of storms.
Two caves in particular are covered in Victorian era graffiti, albeit of the serious carved variety. I suspect a legacy of this part of Scotland’s history in stoneware.
Caithness Flagstone indeed.
